Garmin Vivoactive Review

So I have been running with my Garmin Vivoactive watch since September.  My husband let me use my Birthday and Christmas money to order it early since my Nike+ had been giving me issues for some time and I knew that the battery wasn’t going to last for my whole marathon.  After a little convincing, he let me order it.

So on Friday, September 11, 2015, my Garmin Vivoactive came in the mail!!

I have been running with a Nike+ Sport watch for over 2 years.  I loved my Nike for quite awhile.  It was everything I needed for running, plus if it failed I had my Runkeeper app to back me up.  Actually I used to run with both until I started running longer distances and the app would make my phone die.  This proved to be a problem when my phone died during a half marathon and my family didn’t see me cross the finish line.  It took us about 20 minutes to find each other and my hubby was freaking out that something had happened to me.  That’s when I knew I had to at least ditch the app.

My Nike got me through my early long runs and some half marathons.  I am thankful for the time we spent together.  I loved my Nike!  I also loved my Garmin Vivofit that the hubby and I both got in February.  I loved being able to see my steps even if my miles never matched the distance I had run.  I never did figure that out.  Well, it doesn’t matter now.  My Vivoactive tracks my running, steps, sleep, treadmill running, and weightlifting.  It will even track my swimming, biking,  and golf game if I want it to.   It’s a pretty awesome watch!  I am so in love with it.  I don’t think I will ever get another running watch or a watch in general for that matter.  It comes in white or black.  I got the black one since I knew I would be wearing it all day long all the time.  I know how white can get dirty right away so black was the way to go.  I can get different color watch bands but I haven’t decided if that is something that I want to do yet or not.  They are not as easy to change as the vivofit bands.  Maybe one day.  Amazon does have a red one that I would like since red is my favorite color.

I have worn my watch religiously since getting it in September.  When I take it off, my wrist feels completely naked and I have a hard time functioning.  It’s sad, I know, but the truth.  I just love this watch so much.  I love that I can customize the watch face and add little widgets (apps) for weather, steps, and others to truly get the most out of this watch.

Honestly, if you are on the fence about getting a running watch--GET THE GARMIN VIVOACTIVE!!!  You will not regret it.

When Life Throws You Lemons--My Comeback

I know I haven't’ been the best blogger as of late.  Honestly, I haven’t felt like sharing much of what I’ve been going through the past year.  Maybe I felt ashamed for struggling so much and wanted to continue to give off the persona that everything was perfect.  I’m not perfect. Far from it. But that’s what makes me real and human. I think that’s what people want to see and read about.  Not everyone is a fitness model or perfect wife and mother. So here it is! My comeback to blogging. It’s going to be real and raw and everything I’ve kept inside.   Last year when we returned from our Disney vacation (June 2017), I started back into training for my 3rd Madison Marathon.  I wanted a PR so badly for this race. I wanted so badly to be under 5 hours. My training sucked! With EJ starting peewee football and my class load at work (I’ll get into that later), every time I thought about this race, I dreaded it.  Honestly, I was falling more and mo...

Spring Break Fun!!!

Spring Break was sure fun and interesting!!  Carpet cleaning, a trip to Ikea, egg coloring, Easter Egg Scramble, and all the fun of Easter morning have made this a memorable spring break for sure. I have truly loved being home with my kiddos but there were times, especially Sunday afternoon after too much Easter candy, that I was definitely ready to head back to work and for them to head back to school. Monday was the only day my hubby had to work as he took vacation the rest of the week.  So the kids and I did some random stuff around the house and ran some errands.  Maddie went to Menards to pick out paint for her desk so she could paint it with Poppa.  While they were doing that, I took EJ to get his haircut and then to Shopko to get some totes for under the bed storage, the kids’ projects and their photo albums.  I have recently switched from using photo albums to using photo boxes.  You can fit in so many more photos and still have the ability to wr...

2 Weeks of March Reflections

Well it’s been an interesting start to March.  I apologize for no blog last week.  It was a stressful week for me and didn’t have anything positive to say so I knew that would be reflected in my blog.  And that’s not how I want my blog to come across.   So let me recap what happened that first week of March.  The week started out just fine until I decided to check on the status of my license renewal through DPI.  Because I have 2 licenses; one as a teacher and one as a reading specialist, I had to renew both of them.  Well my teaching license is fine and will most likely be approved and renewed based on my teaching experience and my PDP (professional development plan).  My reading specialist license is another story.  It is not being approved right now as I didn’t complete the correct PDP as DPI classifies reading specialist as an administrative license.  I knew this, I just didn’t realize that my PDP would be any different.  I ...
