Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful day with those you love!!

It has been a very interesting week this week.  I have gone back and forth so many times about my running and my strength training and just everything.  My emotions have been all over the place.  Partly due to both Mother Nature outside and my own Mother Nature.  I know TMI.  Sorry.  I have been going back and forth on what to write in this blog and if anyone really wants to hear about my workouts or what I should be writing about.  It’s an awkward place to be in.  I am still not sure what I where I want this blog to go.  So as I try to figure that out more, I am going to try to incorporate more of my life into my blogs, so you will get to know me better as a person and not just a crazy workout/runner girl!

One thing that I am very proud of this week is getting my long runs in on the treadmill.  I am not a super huge fan of running long distances on the treadmill but when you have temps below zero with wind chills, you have to make due.  I am such a chicken when it is that cold outside.  I really don’t like it.  Even if I do have running gear that will allow me to stay warm at these temperatures, I would rather stay in my nice warm basement watching Netflix for these runs.  I was so not looking forward to doing this on Saturday for sure, but I was surprised that once I started going and upped my speed to 5.5 mph, I actually felt amazing.  I really only had to do 9 miles to get to 40 miles for the week, but I was feeling so amazing that I pushed it to 11 miles!  I was shocked that I felt so amazing afterwards.  I really wasn’t in that much pain.  I was completely drenched in sweat, and smelled horrendous, but it was worth it.  I was so proud of myself and in such a great mood.  My hubby even commented on how much happier I seemed today.  I totally give credit to running for my awesome mood.

Saturday was awesome for another reason as well.  Daddy and I decided to surprise the kiddos and take them to a Lego Event held in a town not too far from us.  It was absolutely amazing to see these awesome displays made completely of Legos.  My son EJ is 5 years old and absolutely loves anything Legos.  EJ and Daddy play PS3 Lego games almost every day.  I have to set a timer for these 2 boys so they don’t stay up super late playing these games!  Crazy, I know!  We honestly had such a fun afternoon looking at the Lego displays and doing Lego crafts.  We made Lego rice krispie blocks,  decorated Lego mini-figures, and made Lego block beaded key chains.  Maddie and EJ had so much fun, they didn’t complain once about being bored!  Of course EJ got more Legos while we were there, but Maddie and I got earrings made out of Legos.  Hers are blue birds and mine are blue trains.  They are really cute and surprisingly not really that heavy.

These displays were crazy good!!  They took hours to build!  So amazing!!

Sunday I did another long run on the treadmill.  I was so proud of myself for doing 11 miles yesterday that I wanted to push myself to do 12 today!  And I did it!  It was actually really enjoyable!  Both days I watched “Last Man Standing” which is totally hilarious and really helped me get through the monotony of running in place for a few hours.  I totally conquered my fears and got it done on the Mill this weekend.  I have done this many miles before on the treadmill but that was a year ago and I really would much rather be outside, but when it’s warmer.

And as much as I love going places and doing things with my family.  I am loving that today (Sunday) we are home, cuddled up on the couch watching movies and playing games.  I love that we can have a great time and do nothing at all!  I love my little family so much.

Project: Garage 2016 Part 4: Trusses, roof work, framing, and a new back door

I am so stinking excited about the work that has been done on my garage this week!  I am so incredibly thankful for our builders (Hometown Remodeling, LLC)!  They have put in a lot of work and it has been incredibly hot this week.  I love the sun and I love to lay out in the sun, but even I didn’t want to go out this week!! Here’s what went down this week: Monday, July 18, 2016 :  The trusses were delivered while the kids and I were at swim lessons.  That was all that we thought was going to happen today.  Luckily the builders finished their other job up early and headed to our house to get started on setting the trusses.  They got about half of them set up before quitting for the day.   Tuesday, July 19, 2016 :  The builders arrived at 8:30 am to start on finishing the trusses, putting the wood down for the roof, and  tar paper to get ready for the shingles.  These 3 guys worked super hard all day.  They di...

A trip to a local running store with a friend & A Training Update

Well, I finally did it!  It only took me over 4 years to do it but I finally was properly fitted for running shoes!!  (And it’s only taken me a month and a half to blog about it!!  Darn Garage project and heading back to school! LOL (see previous post for more of my excuses!)) On Tuesday, July 26, my awesome friend Michelle and I traveled to Fleet Feet Sports in Middleton.  Michelle and I work together at one of the middle schools I teach at.  She is honestly the best co-worker in the world!  We totally get each other which is awesome and makes going to work that much more enjoyable!  We taught summer school together but I haven’t seen her since summer school ended.  It was great catching up on things on the ride from Milton where she picked me up to Middleton.  I honestly haven’t laughed that much in probably 3 weeks!  It’s always great to hang out with my buddy!   Anyway, we arrived at the store and looked around for a bit ...

A Change in Mindset and Goals

Since reading The Magnolia Story and my experience with my wedding rings, I have changed my mindset about so many things.  One in particular being my obsession with running and working out.  I know that my running and working out is time-consuming and a lot of our free time revolves around my running schedule because I have set these lofty goals to run races and a certain number of miles in a year.  This has also caused me to be ridiculously burned out from running.  I have lost my love of it a little bit.  So to gain that back, the first thing I am doing is to NOT set a mileage goal for next year.  I still want to train and race, but I am going to follow my plans more and not overdo it as much just to chase a number.  I am going to run more for feel and for the freedom it gives me.  I am going to run with friends more.  I am going to make running fun and enjoyable again.  I’m going to concentrate on getting stronger with more stre...
