Project: Garage 2016 Part 5: Siding, finish roofing, and finally a way into my attic!!!

Lots of things were done on our garage this week!  The whole project is almost finished!!!  I am so excited and a little overwhelmed by it being almost done!  This is opening up so many other projects for us!  I have a feeling August is going to be very busy!!

Monday, July 25: Our siding was delivered while the kids and I were at the pool today. I can’t wait to see how all these boxes are going to look on my garage!

Tuesday, July 26:  The builders were back today at 8am to start on the siding!  It’s a different color than our house but will match the shed that we painted the color we want our house to be once we paint it.  It’s called Pacific Blue!  I’m hoping this will motivate my hubby to finally paint our house which we have been talking about for years now!!

IMG_3388.JPG IMG_3390.JPG IMG_3391.JPG  I am so in love with this color!!!  It makes my house look totally different! I can’t wait until it’s all one color!  Unfortunately, now I know that I will also have to repaint the white trim and my red shutters and door.  They look faded already, but they are going to look really faded when the whole house is darker!  Just another project to add to the list!  Oh the joys of being a homeowner!  However, my competitiveness wants our house to be the nicest house in the neighborhood and that’s going to be tough with the new construction right behind us, but ya’ll know I am up for that challenge!!!

Wednesday, July 27:  Today was the last day for our builders (for now anyway).  They worked about a half day finishing the siding and cutting an opening into the attic from the garage.  They would have installed our attic ladder but, unfortunately, we purchased the wrong size ladder. So we had to make a trip to Menards this evening to exchange it for the correct size.  It was a little frustrating, especially because our garage could have been basically completed today with this ladder installation, and now we have to wait again.  I’m getting antsy to get my basement and attic organized!

IMG_3413.JPG IMG_3414.JPG IMG_3415.JPG I even tried pulling the cars into the garage today to see how they would fit!  I am so excited that we can fit my truck and my hubby’s Rogue in the garage together and it looks like we have a ton of room for storage still!!

Thursday, July 28:  It was a nice and quiet day at our house.  My parents stopped by to see the work that had been done and so that my dad could check out the electrical materials we bought on Sunday.  Dad and Jay are going to do the electrical work themselves.  This should be interesting.  LOL!   It also stormed this afternoon, so the kids and I enjoyed reading books and cuddling all afternoon!

Friday, July 29:  Our builder said that the workers who were going to install our drywall would be at our house either today or Saturday.  No one today so hopefully Saturday.  Then we just have to wait for our builders to get back to us on when they can install the attic ladder and put in my outlet on the other side of my garage.  Then it will be electrical work that my Dad and Hubby will install.  She’s almost finished and I’m excited, but there is so much more work to be done!  The organizing of the attic and garage are probably going to take me until school starts and that’s less than a month away for me!!  That’s pure craziness!!!

Anyway, without the builders and noise the past 2 days, the kids and I enjoyed some quiet time reading and just hanging out with each other!

Saturday, July 30: Still no drywall!!  A little frustrating but we made the most of it and headed to Little Amerricka for the afternoon!  It was so much fun!!

Until next time, my friends!!

I hope you had an awesome weekend!!!!

I may have a Serious Addiction!!!!

In the past 3 weeks I have ran 41, 45, and 46 miles!! Those are some crazy totals considering I would have been lucky to have a total of 20 miles a week back in October/November of last year! I definitely have my mojo back!! I keep wanting to push myself more and more with my running! My legs are feeling strong and powerful and I love it!! I am super proud of how far I have come with my running.  Back when I started running almost 3 years ago, I had a hard time running a full mile on the treadmill and it took me between 13-15 minutes to do it! I would get so down on myself, thinking that I would never be able to run a 10 minute mile! Now I can run that consistently for long distances, but I get down on myself when I can't maintain 9 minute miles for a 5K! I need to just be proud of myself for how far I have come with my running! I will get there! I'm just always in such a competiton with myself! I know I can I can do so much better with my nutrition so I am going to read this b...

Project: Garage 2016 Part 4: Trusses, roof work, framing, and a new back door

I am so stinking excited about the work that has been done on my garage this week!  I am so incredibly thankful for our builders (Hometown Remodeling, LLC)!  They have put in a lot of work and it has been incredibly hot this week.  I love the sun and I love to lay out in the sun, but even I didn’t want to go out this week!! Here’s what went down this week: Monday, July 18, 2016 :  The trusses were delivered while the kids and I were at swim lessons.  That was all that we thought was going to happen today.  Luckily the builders finished their other job up early and headed to our house to get started on setting the trusses.  They got about half of them set up before quitting for the day.   Tuesday, July 19, 2016 :  The builders arrived at 8:30 am to start on finishing the trusses, putting the wood down for the roof, and  tar paper to get ready for the shingles.  These 3 guys worked super hard all day.  They di...

Madison Marathon 2016

You guys!!!  I ran my second full marathon!!!  And I beat my time by 7 minutes!!!  I am still in shock several weeks later that I actually did it!  (And that it’s taken me this long to write about it!)  I didn’t quite make my ultimate goal of under 5 hours, but I was super close with a time of 5:04:03!!!  Can you believe it??? Here’s how it all went down: The family and I drove up to Madison on Friday night to get my packet at the Expo.  We hung around the Expo looking at the different booths, hanging out with fellow runners, and making signs. My kids made the greatest signs for me for race day! Such a pretty sight! There signs are so cute!  I love how supportive they are! We went to Pizza Ranch for dinner afterwards which is always a nice carb-loading trip.  I tell ya their pizza and chicken are the best.  We recently went to Mac’s Pizza Shack which is a local restaurant and their pizza is good but just not qui...
