Marathon Training Week 12

Marathon Training Week 12 is upon us.  Here’s my recap of the week!!   Sunday 9-20-15 Today is the Whitewater Half Marathon!!  I love this race!  I had such an awesome time last year here that I couldn’t wait to sign up for this one again.  We arrived pretty early to the race since I have control issues and need to be at the race early.  I freaked out on everyone this morning to get moving, which in turn made my hubby drive like a crazy person because of my own insanity.  Needless to say we were waiting around for a half hour before start time.  At least we found a decent parking spot! :)   Anyway, the it was cold to start the race, but I quickly warmed up.  I am thankful that I wore shorts and a tank top!  It was actually pretty warm by the time I finished the race.  I was sweating buckets like usual anyway.  The first 3 ½ miles were torture.  My right calf and foot were so tight!  I wanted to quit I don’t know how many times!  It was almost unbearable at times.  But I am t

Marathon Training Week 11

Training Week 11 It’s starting to get real people!  In about a month and a half I will be running a full marathon!!  That’s 26.2 miles!!!  What was I thinking??  Am I completely crazy??  Yes, Yes, I am!!  But I love it!  I am really enjoying all my training.  I am above all things athletically, a runner.  Yes, I want more muscles! Yes I want to be strong and fit!  But above all, I want to be the best runner I can be.  This is where I am the happiest; out pounding the pavement!  So for now my focus is on my marathon.  I will get to gaining more muscles over the winter off season.  I have potentially 2 races after my marathon, but one is a 12K and the other is a fun 5K.  But other than those 2 races, my focus will be on getting stronger to improve my running for next season.  It’s going to be epic!! Sunday 9-13-15 Today is Rest day!!!  I am feeling surprisingly good today after running 17 miles yesterday.  I am feeling bloated and fat but that’s from eating junk last night and to

Marathon Training Week 10

Welcome to week 10 of marathon training!  Here’s how this week went for me!  I’m having an internal conflict between wanting big muscles and just running!  I am not enjoying P90X as much as I used to, so I know I need a change.  I’m just not sure what I want to do.  I’m afraid if I stop altogether I will lose the muscles I have now.  (Realistically, it’s not going to happen, I’m just a freak and these are the things I worry about!)  I want to keep lifting because I know it will help with my running and burn more fat. I just am not sure what method to use right now with marathon training.  So for right now marathon training is taking priority and I will work in lifting when I can.  Friday’s will definitely still be Arm day, but Sunday is going to be more of an actual, real rest day; and Monday will be running or legs.   Sunday 9-6 Today I slept in after being super busy out in the heat at the fair all afternoon yesterday.  My body so needed to rest today.  I had a wonderful time

Marathon Training Week 9

So this week was week 9 of Madison Marathon training.  After running 15 miles on Saturday and feeling like I could hardly walk afterwards, I began to doubt myself and my ability to run 26.2 miles.  I was having some serious anxiety!  What if I can’t do it?  What if I let myself and everyone else down?  What if I have to be driven to the finish line--to my family waiting for me?  What if? What if? What if?  Plus I felt so exhausted and sore after running only 15 miles that I thought, how can I ever run 26.2 miles?   Sunday 8-30 Today I woke up still sore from running 15 miles on Saturday.  Plus I was so tired after starting back to school last week that I just wanted to sleep in.  My kids were in the bed with us and I just wanted to snuggle them!  So I rested for most of the morning and then couldn’t take it any longer.  I wanted to make some dill dip but I didn’t have any sour cream, so I decided I would walk up to Kwik Trip and get some.  I took a longer route that I knew would
