Henry Vilas Zoo Run Run 5K Recap

This is probably one of the best blog posts I get to write! On Sunday, September 25, my mini-me and I ran the Henry Vilas Zoo Run Run!  It was my 4th time running it and it was my mini’s first time running this race and her 2nd 5K ever!  She was awesome!   We had planned to run this race since July and we spent lots of time planning our outfits.  This year the theme of the race was Predator V. Prey and you could choose to run as a Zebra or a Lion.  Mads and I decided to run as Zebras.  We also were able to start the race a few minutes before the lions!  The goal was to not get eaten by the lions!  It worked for a little bit! I went on Amazon to look for Zebra leggings and Zebra costumes almost immediately after registering for the race.  I was able to purchase leggings for both of us and a combo headband with ears and tail set.  We were to get headbands at the race but I didn’t know that when I ordered these.  Plus they didn’t come with tails!  I couldn’t find tanks for us to

Discover Whitewater Half Marathon Recap

On Sunday September 18, I ran the Discover Whitewater Series Half Marathon for the third year in a row.  I really like this race.  There aren't quite as many people cheering along the course as the Mad Mini, but there is live music in one spot and there are quite a few water stations and tons of volunteers directing you along the course.   My family likes going to this race also.  They get to go fishing at a little lake close to the race start / finish line that we like to go to.  It’s quiet and peaceful for them.  Well at least for Jay and EJ.  Maddie is not a super huge fan of fishing unless I go with, and even then not so much.  But at least for today they were pretty good for Daddy.  I always, always worry that they are going to be horrible for him and then they won’t want to come to my races anymore.  Luckily this hasn’t happened so far. We got the race pretty early so there was a lot of waiting; about 45 minutes, which my kids were not happy about, but they survived

A trip to a local running store with a friend & A Training Update

Well, I finally did it!  It only took me over 4 years to do it but I finally was properly fitted for running shoes!!  (And it’s only taken me a month and a half to blog about it!!  Darn Garage project and heading back to school! LOL (see previous post for more of my excuses!)) On Tuesday, July 26, my awesome friend Michelle and I traveled to Fleet Feet Sports in Middleton.  Michelle and I work together at one of the middle schools I teach at.  She is honestly the best co-worker in the world!  We totally get each other which is awesome and makes going to work that much more enjoyable!  We taught summer school together but I haven’t seen her since summer school ended.  It was great catching up on things on the ride from Milton where she picked me up to Middleton.  I honestly haven’t laughed that much in probably 3 weeks!  It’s always great to hang out with my buddy!   Anyway, we arrived at the store and looked around for a bit before an associate came to help us out.  There was a

Madison Mini Marathon 2016

I apologize for being so late on my blogs!  It has been quite a busy end of August and beginning of September.  Having taught summer school for the first time this year, I feel like I didn’t get a break at all from school and here I am right back to school.  I don’t feel rested.  I don’t feel like I was able to spend enough time with my kids.  Needless to say I have been stressed and am so glad that I can’t teach summer school next year due to going to Disney World!  So this is the first installment of my blogs that should have been done last month. Here goes! On Saturday August 20, I ran the Madison Mini Marathon.   I like this race a lot.  It’s a fun one on a similar course as the Madison Half Marathon I ran in May.  I really like this one because of the cheer stations.  There are local groups and schools that sponsor a water station and basically cheer their hearts out for racers that they do not know at all!  It’s awesome! I mean seriously!  Who comes out on a rainy Saturd
