Project: Garage 2016 Part 5: Siding, finish roofing, and finally a way into my attic!!!

Lots of things were done on our garage this week!  The whole project is almost finished!!!  I am so excited and a little overwhelmed by it being almost done!  This is opening up so many other projects for us!  I have a feeling August is going to be very busy!! Monday, July 25 : Our siding was delivered while the kids and I were at the pool today. I can’t wait to see how all these boxes are going to look on my garage!   Tuesday, July 26 :  The builders were back today at 8am to start on the siding!  It’s a different color than our house but will match the shed that we painted the color we want our house to be once we paint it.  It’s called Pacific Blue!  I’m hoping this will motivate my hubby to finally paint our house which we have been talking about for years now!!  I am so in love with this color!!!  It makes my house look totally different! I can’t wait until it’s all one color!  Unfortunately, now I know that I will also have to repaint the white trim and my red s

Project: Garage 2016 Part 4: Trusses, roof work, framing, and a new back door

I am so stinking excited about the work that has been done on my garage this week!  I am so incredibly thankful for our builders (Hometown Remodeling, LLC)!  They have put in a lot of work and it has been incredibly hot this week.  I love the sun and I love to lay out in the sun, but even I didn’t want to go out this week!! Here’s what went down this week: Monday, July 18, 2016 :  The trusses were delivered while the kids and I were at swim lessons.  That was all that we thought was going to happen today.  Luckily the builders finished their other job up early and headed to our house to get started on setting the trusses.  They got about half of them set up before quitting for the day.   Tuesday, July 19, 2016 :  The builders arrived at 8:30 am to start on finishing the trusses, putting the wood down for the roof, and  tar paper to get ready for the shingles.  These 3 guys worked super hard all day.  They didn’t leave until 4:30.  I don’t know how they did it in the

Marathon Training~the first 2 weeks

Marathon training began on July 11 with cross training.  Mondays are cross training days and I am using those days to train legs and run a few miles in the afternoons, for now.  I am not sure how my legs will respond to having a leg day right after my long run day.  I am using Hal Higdon’s Intermediate marathon training plan since I have one 26.2 mile race under my belt.  Last year I had Saturday’s as my long run day, but this year it will be Sunday.  So my cross training may change if my legs are not feeling it for leg day.  We will wait and see on that one.   Tuesdays are short runs of 3 miles so far.  I am using this day to run hills.  There is no hill training on this plan, but I know the course for the Madison Marathon is hilly so I want to be sure to keep this in the training plan.   Wednesdays are shorter runs of about 5 miles for right now.  These will increase, but we all know I’m already increasing them.  Last week I did 7 miles on both Tuesday and Wednesday.  I just c

Bob's Red Mill Protein Powder Review

As a SweatPink Ambassador, I have the awesome opportunity to review new products.  This month I had the opportunity to review Bob’s Red Mill Protein Powder.  This stuff is super yummy and full of all kinds of goodness.  It comes in four varieties: Vanilla, Chocolate, Chai, and Protein and Fiber.  I was able to try all the flavors!  I think my favorite is vanilla, but I really liked all of them.  Each flavor is packed with chia, probiotics, omega-3’s, amino acids, and much more.  They are gluten free, vegan, and are made with only clean ingredients.   The first shake I made I used the chocolate protein powder and added water, fruit and ice.  It was really yummy.  I used strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, and raspberries.   In my second shake, I used the Protein and Fiber protein powder along with my EAS Chocolate Whey protein powder, water, ice, and fruit.  I used strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, and raspberries, again.  This one was yummy as well.    In my third

Milton Independence Day 10K and Family Fun

So this is really late but I’m going to say it anyway.  Happy Fourth of July everyone!! I love our country so much and I am forever grateful for the men and women who sacrificed their lives for us and those who are currently serving our country, that I feel like we should celebrate this holiday every day.  I especially love that I have the freedom to run the streets and country roads of my town on this most important holiday. Every year for the past 34 years, Milton has had an Independence day run/walk event on the Fourth of July.  There is a 10K run, 1 mile run, and a 1 mile run/walk for fun option.  This is the 3rd year I have participated in the 10K run. As I see it, I might as well.  I am going to either be running or working out in some fashion that day anyway so I might as well get up and run with some other crazy runners!  It’s totally worth it for the low price as well.  If you get your registration in early enough the cost for the 10K was only $17 and you get a t-shirt!  T
