Getting over a cold and getting back on track, again!

It's been an interesting weekend and start to the week.  I am finally feeling better today and ready to kill my workouts the rest of this week!  Let's do this! Saturday 11-28 I woke up this morning and felt like crap. So I took some meds and went back to bed.  I thought maybe I would get a run in later, but that never happened.  We ended up getting our Christmas tree instead.  It was a fun family afternoon.   I also got the tutus done for the Santa Hustle that Maddie and I are running in next Saturday!  It’s going to be so much fun!! Aren’t these super cute??  I can’t wait to show off our complete outfits next Saturday!!! Sunday 11-29 I finally felt a little better this morning when I woke up.  I really wanted to head out for a longer run today since I haven’t been out on a longer run since before the marathon.  I had planned for 8 miles, but with the cold weather and still being congested and having a cough, I opted for my usual 5 mile route.  I was rea

Thanksgiving and My Birthday

These 2 days have been completely amazing! I love my life! I love my family! I love running! Thursday 11-26 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! I missed running in my community’s Turkey Trot 5K this morning because I woke up feeling like complete crap.  My whole body was sore from my workouts this week and my head is so congested from this cold I have.  It doesn't help that when I get a cold, I usually get a migraine to go along with it.  So I took some meds and headed back to bed to cuddle with my daughter.  We woke up just in time to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  She was amazed by all the dancers, floats, and balloons. Then we started to get ready for the day.  We tore apart the bread and chopped the onion and celery for the stuffing.  Once the boys got up Maddie helped Daddy stuff the turkey and EJ helped me peel the sweet potatoes.  They were such good helpers.   Once we got that all set, I finally started to feel better.  SO I decided to hit the road and

Let's Get to Lifting!!

I can’t believe it is Thanksgiving week!  We are making some lifestyle changes in our family after my Husband’s doctor appointment on Friday.  He is going in for blood work this week to retest his Thyroid and his A1C levels.  When he had his blood work done in January his A1C was 6.4 which is borderline diabetic.  We will see what happens when we get these results, but he knows he needs to make a lifestyle change and as a family we are going to support him.  I am researching low-carb diets and seeing which ones will work for our family and our lifestyle.  I know what we have to do and it’s going to be hard on the kids especially, but we are going to cut out soda and sugary drinks completely and we are going to drastically reduce the amount of sweet dessert treats we have in the house.  We are changing as a family and we are doing it together!  We are a team!  We’ve got this!  I’m just super excited that I am not the only one that will be thinking healthy anymore!   Sunday 11-22 S

Forging a New Plan

I have discovered that without running I am a completely different person, and one that I do not like!  I need running in my life!  It is my soulmate!  It challenges me!  It comforts me! It is a part of me!  I AM A RUNNER! Sunday 11-15 I could hardly wait to run today!  I am going to slowly up my daily miles this week, I think.  So today I wanted to do 4 miles.  I got a little extra, but I am ok with that!  I loved it!  It was just what I needed.  It was the perfect start to the day.  I knew today was going to be a busy day, but my run was first priority on my list.  I know I will have such a better day because of it.  I am so happy to be back running I can’t even tell you!  I am such a happier person because  of it!  I am a runner!  I love it!! Monday 11-16 I ran 4.7 miles today!  It was glorious!  I love that I am back to my usual routine of getting up and running in the morning.  It makes me a happy person!  It sets up my day for success and I am able to focus on other

MADISON MARATHON 26.2~I AM A MARATHONER!!!!

OMG!!!!!   I DID IT!!! I RAN A MARATHON!!!  I AM A MARATHONER!!!!  I seriously cannot believe I did it! I am still in shock days later! I completed a marathon!  I didn’t DNF! I wanted to several times towards the end, but thanks to some awesome new running friends, I made it through the entire 26.2 miles!  I feel ridiculously sore, but I am the happiest and proudest I think I have ever been of myself!  I DID IT!!!!   I was so nervous waking up this morning!  I didn’t fully know what to expect since it was my first full, but I have run so many other races that I just used my normal routine to get myself going.  I ate breakfast and got myself dressed, then went on to waking up the rest of my crew.  My awesome Mother-in-law spent the night since we had to be up and going so early.  I wanted to leave the house by 5:45 but we never leave when I want to.  Getting my crew up and going is quite a feat this early in the morning!  We were out the door by 6 so I was happy about that.  I just
