Ramblings for the week Jan 24-30

Here's how the week went down. Read on for more of my ramblings!! Sun: 10 mile run outside Mon: back, biceps and deadlifts; 3 mile treadmill run; core (ball situps) Tues: 6 mile treadmill run; 2 mile treadmill run; core (ball situps) Wed: Legs; Dance Party at Maddie’s school; 4 mile outdoor run Thurs: 5 mile treadmill run Fri: chest, shoulders, triceps, biceps, and deadlifts Sat: 10 mile outdoor run; core (ball situps) Sunday I ran outside once again.  It was cold at only 22 degrees, but boy did it feel good to get out there.  I can’t believe how much of a difference there is between the treadmill and the open road.  My knees have been hurting the past 2 days after running outside.  I guess my legs were getting used to running on the cushy treadmill.  I have also been running pretty slow on the treadmill for the most part, whereas, today I pushed it to run a little faster outside.  I saw some other runners out and that always makes me want to run faster.  I

Workouts & Reflections Jan. 17-23

It’s been an amazing week of running and working out.  I have found enjoyment on the treadmill this week!  It’s been a little stressful at work this week as well and the extra runs have really helped to ease the stress and to help me not binge eat.  I have a tendency to binge on junk when I am stressed out. Not horrible, but I make poor choices or overeat and then I feel horrible about myself and I usually get pretty grumpy and take it out on others.  It’s also that time of the month and I have no patience and am crabbier than usual.  Running has definitely helped me through all of this this week.  I am so grateful for the gift of running that I have given to myself!   I know that without running and lifting, I would have been super stressed out and turned to food to ease the stress.  This is what I used to do.  I am so glad that I have running especially to help combat the stress!   Sun: 10 mile treadmill run; core=situps Mon: AM: shoulders and arms, with extra biceps; PM: 2 mil

Workouts & Reflections Jan 10-16

This week has been a good week of workouts for me.  I feel like my body is making some really nice changes and ones that I am really starting to see.  I am happy with the way things have been going.  I hope to keep this up.  I actually have been sleeping better and am a happier person at night after I run a few miles.  I guess I do need to do something to get rid of the stress of the day.  Then I can focus on my family and be there for them.  It’s weird how totally exhausting myself helps me to be a better mom.  But when I am healthy, I feel better and can be better for my family.    This is how my workouts looked this week: Sun: treadmill run 7 miles, core Mon: back, biceps, legs, 2 mile treadmill run, core Tues: 5.7 mile treadmill run, 2.3 mile treadmill run, core Wed: Legs, glutes, core Thurs: 6 mile treadmill run, 3 mile run outside, core Fri: chest, shoulders, triceps, legs, biceps Sat: run, core Reflections : Sunday’s run was one that almost didn’t hap

Workouts and Reflections January 3-9

Here’s how it all went down this week.  I am excited to be back to work and back on track.  It was a wonderful, restful little vacation, but I am glad to be back to a regular routine.  I thrive on routine.  I like things that are constant in my life and having a great job with great colleagues and students makes going to work, not really work.  It’s fun!  I love my job and I am excited to be back to it full force.   Workouts : Sun--Run 10 miles outside Mon--shoulders and arms, legs, PM run 2 miles Tues--AM run 6 miles, core Wed--legs, PM run 2 miles, core Thurs--AM run 5 miles, PM run 2 miles, Bosco’s Birthday Fri--chest and back, legs, and some biceps Sat--run 8 miles outside naked!, core Reflections : Sunday’s run was cold and hard at first.  I really did not want to get out of my bed.  I’m glad I did and after a few miles my legs loosened up and weren’t quite as heavy as they were to start.  I still did not enjoy the cold very much, but singing along to my mus

Workouts and More Reflections Dec. 27-Jan. 2

I can’t believe the last week of the year is over.  I had so much fun with the kids and relaxing with family.  It was a great little vacation.  I’m not quite ready for it to be over yet.   Here’s what my week of workouts looked like:   Sun--run 10 miles outside Mon--back and biceps plus some legs Tues--treadmill run 8 miles Wed--legs with extra legs and some bicep curls Thurs--treadmill run 7 miles Fri--REST Sat--run 8 miles outside My workouts this week were pretty good.  I enjoyed sleeping in a little bit and getting in some extra moves.  I still had to get up early to get hubby off to work, but it was nice knowing that I could send him off and then head back downstairs for more.  It was also nice that the kids slept in and I could take a nap after breakfast if I felt tired.  I could also spend some time for myself in the mornings before they woke up.  I got to watch what I wanted on TV and enjoy my coffee in peace and quiet. It was very nice.  I did end up taki
